K. Shawn Armstrong
As part of Centred Performance, Shawn is a life long learner, and experienced fire service professional with over forty years experience in public safety. Shawn completed twenty-six years as Chief Fire Official for two municipal fire services. Most recently Shawn concluded his successful career as fire chief with the City of Kingston Fire & Rescue (KFR) leading a diverse fire service of 300 members covering over 450 square kilometres of urban and rural areas from ten fire stations.
Shawn is a proven passionate leader, working with fire services to achieve incremental improvements based on data from a wide source of performance indicators. During his role as fire chief, Shawn successfully led his fire service team on a continuous quality improvement process which led to a prestigious international accreditation award for KFR’s quality performance measures, community risks assessment and strategic planning for fire and life safety programs and services.
Shawn is a graduate of Fanshawe College Law and Security Administration program, The Ontario Police College, The Ontario Fire College and successfully completed the Leading Educating and Developing Program at the University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
When not working with Centred Performance, Shawn can be found enjoying his rural property with his wife Carol; spoiling their two fur babies Keesha and Hugo and enjoying every moment with family and friends.
